Applications are invited for a Business Development Manager to join our team focussed on selling biodiversity monitoring into the market for Nature Based Solutions to Climate Change. You will join an expanding science-based start-up at a very exciting time. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the business development team, identifying, developing and supporting clients who want to credibly monitor nature and biodiversity in their carbon projects in the forests, soil carbon and blue carbon.

NatureMetrics is a high growth start-up company leading the revolution in molecular biodiversity monitoring, enabling environmental managers to measure and monitor biodiversity with DNA-based tools. Roles & Responsibilities

General
  • Develop our product offerings for biodiversity monitoring in the Nature Based Solutions sectors; Forest Carbon, Soil Carbon and Blue Carbon
  • Identify key clients with credibility and a desire to deliver high quality NBS
  • Work with clients to sell NatureMetrics monitoring services
  • Identify opportunities for working with certification bodies, standard setters etc to develop standardised metrics for biodiversity monitoring in the context of Nature Based Solutions.
Reporting
  • This role reports to our Business Development Director
  • The role would not have direct reports but would have the potential to develop a global team along with the development of a sizable market opportunity
Communication
  • Attend regular update meetings with the wider team
  • Update wider company, management or board on progress as required
  • Work with the wider business development team and product development team to exchange knowledge and ideas and manage joint projects e.g. with our business development managers in the energy or supply chain sectors whose clients also have Nature Based Solutions

Personal Specification

Education & qualities
  • A relevant degree is desirable
Specialist knowledge, skills & experience
  • Knowledge of the Nature Based Solutions sector is strongly desirable
  • Commercial experience, including in sales is desirable
  • Background in ecological science, conservation biology is a real plus but not essential
  • Strong commitment to delivering solutions which have a positive impact on nature is
    essential
Interpersonal & communication skills
  • You will have strong communications skills both to enable confident sales presentations with senior clients and to enable you to communicate the opportunity in the sector clearly with our team of scientists
  • Strong writing skills are also a plus
Additional requirements

Terms and Conditions

Location
  • The post is based at NatureMetrics Ltd. Our office location is shortly moving to Guildford.
Working pattern and hours
  • The postholder is expected to work 40 hours a week Monday to Friday with core hours between 10am and 4pm. Applications for flexible working will be considered.
